£68,000 donated for the rehabilitation of children affected by human trafficking

Adventure Ashram has given a grant of £68,000 to Odanadi, a grassroots charity in Mysore, Karnataka, India. The charity, Odanadi, rescues and rehabilitates children who have been affected by human trafficking and provides them with a safe place to live. The rescued boys are living in 3 small shacks on a piece of farmland on the outskirts of Mysore. Whilst the boys are grateful for a safe place to live, the shacks lack basic amenities. Founders of Odanadi, Stanly and Parashu, are determined to give the boys a better home, similar to their other Odanadi home situated nearby housing 65 rescued girls. Plans were drawn up and building work begun. Adventure Ashram Trustees visited the construction site of the boys’ home during their most recent trip to India, on motorcycle rally, Enduro India 2012. Overwhelmed by the success of Odanadi’s rehabilitation programme and the need for the boys’ home to be finished before the monsoon begins in May, a decision was made to give a grant to complete the work. Enduro India’s motorcycle rally arrives in Kodaikanal

As motorcyclists on Enduro India rally arrive in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, Adventure Ashram welcomes Paul Mason as a Partner of our project providing health care to 150 children living in the area. With Paul’s support the children’s crèches will provide a nutritious meal each day. Each child will enjoy 2 eggs and 1 serving of chicken or fish each week and 1 teaspoon of ghee (saturated fat) mixed into their porridge every day. It is our intention that malnourishment will become a thing of the past and Dr Kolhatkar’s will be able to concentrate on different health issues. Thank you for coming on board Paul. Motorcyclists touch down for Enduro India’s 10th rally

Motorcyclists arrive in Goa to take part in Enduro India’s 10^th anniversary rally. Since 2003 over £1.3 million has been raised for a range of charities helping children in both India and UK. Adventure Ashram is delighted to be one of them. The children and families who enjoy the benefits of Adventure Ashram’s health and education work will be making them welcome along the route. Meet Bob and Shirley, Partners of Adventure Ashram

Adventure Ashram are delighted to welcome Bob and Shirley Nicholson as Partners of our project Educating tribal children from Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. During Karma Enduro 2012, car rally in South India, Bob and Shirley met Solomon Daniel who runs the Grace Charitable Trust. They were thrilled to meet the children and hear how Solomon offers encouragement and support to get the children into school. With increasing support from Adventure Ashram supporters the number of children sponsored as risen dramatically. Solomon is dedicating more time visiting villages where many of the children do not go to school. These villages are within the protected tiger reserves and vehicles are prevented from entering. Bob and Shirley’s donation has not only paid for 30 children’s education, it will also buy Solomon a Royal Enfield Bullet. He will be able to get from village to village efficiently and access the places were normal vehicles are not allowed. Thank you Bob and Shirley!

Karma Enduro Car Rally hits India’s national press

The India Express Newspaper features a two page article on 2011 Karma Enduro Car Rally. Highlighting the personal stories of a number of drivers, the article explains how the money raised is helping charities in India through grant giving organisation, Adventure Ashram. Decking out the cars is a very important part of the rally and drivers Bob Nicholson and Nikki Leader are photographed putting the final touches to their cars whilst explaining to local children why they are doing it. £650 is collected by carol singers in Trafalgar Square

Adventure Ashram Singers led by supporter, Emma Odell, took to the stage under the Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree to entertain a huge crowd of onlookers with traditional Christmas carols. During the performance the children watching were encouraged onto the stage and the singing group swelled from 15 to over 30. Bucket collectors weaved through the audience with the aim to collect enough money to pay for a child’s education for a year in South India. Everyone involved was delighted to discover we raised enough to sponsor the education of 5 children. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. School attendance up after 200 children are sponsored

Overwhelming support for Adventure Ashram’s child sponsorship campaign sends 200 children to school. Solomon Daniel, who runs Grace Charitable Trust helps children overcome the obstacles that prevent them attending school. By building a relationship with each child and their family he identifies the support that is need to enable the child to go to school. These ways vary, anything from buying shoes and a school uniform, arranging school transportation, giving one on one support to build their confidence and help them catch up academically. Solomon is an inspiration, respected by the families and a true friend to the children. Thank you to all our supporters.

Motorcyclists raise £25,000 for Adventure Ashram projects

Motorcyclists on the Enduro India 2011 rally gave £25,000 to Adventure Ashram. The donation was raised in some wild and wacky ways. Motorcyclist, Michael Hobbs was sponsored £30 for every hour he sat on his bike by his friend Vince. Motorcyclists completed the 2,000 km rally on Royal Enfield Bullets traveling from Goa to Kerala in just under two weeks. A huge thank you to everyone for the effort put into the raising the money that funds health and education work in North and South India. Fiesta finale for Karma Enduro Car Rally

Drums and fireworks greeted drivers completing the Karma Enduro car rally. Exhausted but delighted after their 2,000 km drive from Goa to Kerala they finally turned off their engines. Memories of some of India’s most beautiful landscapes and friends they made en route will stay with them all as they pick up their daily lives. Celebrations in full Indian dress took place on the exotic banks of Kerala’s Backwaters. Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity and Adventure Ashram toasted the adventurers who raised over £132,275.
