Wear Your Transport,
Fund Their Transport.

Join us for a fun, transport-themed non-uniform day to raise vital funds for children in rural India who are urgently at risk of losing access to their educations.

The situation

For 400 children in the remote Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in southern India, education is their only hope for a brighter future. But these children face immense challenges. They live in isolated villages, miles from the nearest school. Walking is impossible – not only is the distance too far, but the reserve is home to wild animals, including tigers, elephants, and hyenas.

These children rely on minibuses provided by our partner, The Grace Charitable Trust, which is financially supported by Adventure Ashram, to get to school. These minibuses are their lifeline. But transportation is just one piece of the puzzle. These children also need uniforms and school bags  to attend school, and access to tuition centres with dedicated teachers to help them with their homework, as almost all of their parents are illiterate.

The emergency

Urgent: Time is running out!

Due to a critical funding gap, The Grace Charitable Trust is struggling to maintain these essential programs. We need to raise £18,000 by May 20th to keep the minibuses on the road and ensure these children have uniforms, access to tuition centres, and qualified teachers. If we fail to reach our goal, 400 children could lose everything – their transportation, their uniforms, their support centres, and their teachers.

How you can help

Join the fun!

We're calling on all UK primary schools to participate in our "Wear Your Transport, Fund Their Transport" campaign! It's a simple and exciting way to make a huge difference.

  1. Choose a day: Select a date that works for your school to hold your transport-themed non-uniform day.

  2. Register your event: Fill in this online form to quickly register your event. We simply ask for date of event, name of school, number of students (approx) and a contact email address.

  3. Spread the word: Tell your students, teachers, and parents about the campaign and why it's so important. Use our downloadable posters and social media resources (link to resources).

  4. Get creative: Encourage children to wear clothes representing their favourite mode of transport – buses, trains, planes, bikes, or animals they might like to ride such as unicorns or elephants!

  5. Collect donations: Ask for a suggested donation of £1 per child to support this vital cause.

  6. Send us your funds: Details on how to send your collected donations can be found here (link to donation instructions).

What will your donation do?

Every pound you raise will go towards ensuring these 400 children have access to:

  • Safe transportation: Protecting children from the dangers of walking long distances in the reserve.

  • Essential uniforms: Providing the required attire to attend school.

  • Supportive tuition centres: Giving them access to extra help and resources to succeed academically.

  • Dedicated teachers: Ensuring they have qualified educators to guide their learning and inspire their potential.

  • Hope for the future: Empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and achieve their dreams.
